İDE INTERNATIONAL THOUGHT ACADEMY

Introduction

This program is designed for Turkish and international students and aims to enhance participants’ intellectual curiosity and critical engagement with contemporary theories and debates in the humanities and social sciences. It seeks to contribute to the development of participants’ cognitive and linguistic capacities, strengthening their ability to understand and formulate ideas and enabling them to propose informed responses to current questions and challenges in these fields.

In particular, the program will examine fundamental concepts, theories, and intellectual trends in cultural, religious, philosophical, political, and ethical studies, with particular reference to Islamic culture and civilization. In addition, themes such as rational and critical thinking, strategic reasoning, problem-solving, intercultural communication, and peace and conflict resolution will be explored from a scholarly perspective under the guidance of expert academics.

The program also aims to enable students to approach contemporary issues and problems with impartiality and critical insight. Particular attention will be given to areas characterized by mutual influence and dialectical interaction among cultures, as well as to the relationships between the individual and society, religion and culture, and ethics and politics. Participants will be encouraged to engage with diverse ideas, theories, and intellectual trends at a theoretical level while analyzing and critically examining these issues within their broader historical, cultural, and intellectual contexts.

The program will consist of eight sessions, held once a month, with each session lasting 1.5 hours. A reading list for each session will be provided in advance. Each session will combine a lecture, a question-and-answer segment, and interactive discussions in which participants will be encouraged to take an active role. Through this approach, the program is structured to deepen and consolidate theoretical knowledge through collective reflection, dialogue, deliberation, and debate; to establish a shared intellectual vocabulary among students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds; and to foster meaningful intellectual interaction and the exchange of ideas.

Bu program, ulusal ve uluslararası öğrencilere yönelik hazırlanmış olup katılımcıları sosyal ve beşerî bilimlerdeki çağdaş teori ve tartışmalarla yakından tanıştırmayı ve entelektüel ilgilerini geliştirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Program, katılımcıların zihinsel ve dilsel yetilerini geliştirebilme, teori ve düşünceleri anlama ve rahatlıkla ifade edebilme, ayrıca ilgili alanlardaki güncel sorunlara yönelik bilgiye dayalı çözümler üretebilme becerilerine katkı sağlamayı hedeflemektedir.

Program kapsamında kültür, din, felsefe, siyaset ve etik alanlarındaki temel kavramlar, teoriler ve entelektüel akımlar İslam kültürü ve medeniyeti ekseninde ele alınacaktır. Buna ek olarak rasyonel ve eleştirel düşünme, stratejik akıl yürütme, problem çözme, kültürlerarası iletişim ile barış ve çatışma çözümü gibi temalar, uzman akademisyenler tarafından akademik bir düzeyde işlenecektir.

Program ayrıca katılımcılara çağdaş mesele ve sorunlara tarafsız ve eleştirel bir şekilde yaklaşabilmelerine yönelik bir dizi zihinsel ve entelektüel beceriyi kazandırmayı hedeflemektedir. Birey ve toplum, din ve kültür, etik ve siyaset arasındaki ilişkilerin yanı sıra kültürler arasında karşılıklı iletişim ve diyalektik etkileşime özel bir önem atfedilecektir. Katılımcılar, farklı fikir, teori ve entelektüel akımlarla teorik düzeyde bağ kurmaya teşvik edilirken, bu meseleleri geniş tarihsel, kültürel ve entelektüel bağlamları içinde analiz etmeye ve eleştirel bir gözle incelemeye teşvik edilecektir.

Program, ayda bir kez düzenlenecek ve her biri 1,5 saat sürecek olan oturumlardan oluşacaktır. Her ders için hazırlanmış okuma listesi oturum öncesinde katılımcılarla paylaşılacaktır. Oturumlar, ders sunumu, soru-cevap bölümü ve katılımcıları aktif rol almaya teşvik eden interaktif tartışmaların bileşiminden oluşacaktır. Bu yaklaşım sayesinde program, birlikte düşünme, diyalog, müzakere ve tartışma yoluyla teorik bilgiyi derinleştirip pekiştirmeyi, farklı akademik ve kültürel arka planlara sahip öğrenciler arasında ortak bir entelektüel dil oluşturmayı ve nitelikli bir fikrî etkileşimi geliştirmeyi amaçlamaktadır.

Notes

•  The program will be conducted entirely in English.  
• The program will begin in October and conclude in May. Classes will be held one day per month.
• Each seminar will be conducted with experts in their respective fields, focusing on religion, thought, politics, philosophy, culture, and civilization.
• Educational trips and social activities are also planned throughout the program.
• The most important requirement for participation is mandatory attendance at all seminars.
• Students who attend the seminars regularly will receive a certificate at the end of the program.
