An Interview with Professor Noureddine Khademi
Professor Noureddine Khademi, Tunisia’s Former Minister of Religious Affairs, met with IDE researchers!

Professor Noureddine Khademi was the second guest of Institute of Islamic Thought’s “Islam in the 21st Century” lecture series. Professor Khademi met with the researchers of the Institute in a special session and answered the questions addressed to him.
In this session, Prof. Khademi talked about Islamic scholars like Ghazali and Malik b. Nabi who had big effect on his life. Khademi, who is regarded as one of the greatest living authorities on Maqasid al-sharia and usul al-fiqh, also mentioned the importance of Maqasid and Usul for today’s world. Khademi also pointed to the problems facing today’s world which is mostly ruled by oppressive regimes.
During the interview, the researchers asked Khademi questions in various foreign languages such as Arabic and French, it drew attention that Khademi responded to the questions in the same languages in which they were asked. The Professor also gave important advices to our young researchers to pay attention throughout their scientific journey.
Professor Khademi has written more than forty published works and proved to be among the Islamic scholars of the Arab world who have important intellectual accumulation due to the lectures he gave at many distinguished universities from Saudi Arabia to Qatar and the theses he directed. In addition, he continues to seek finding practical solutions to the problems of the Islamic world.
